The main purpose of holding a workshop on “Re-thinking Pensions in Pakistan” is to bring together various government, semi government and private sector institutions/bodies (Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Labor and Manpower, Employees Old Age Benefit Institution, Central Board of Revenue and Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, Asset Management Companies, Life Insurance Companies, Actuaries, Accountants) which are related to pensions in Pakistan in order to collect information and build an understanding with regard to the existing pension system and on-going pension reforms in the country. The workshop would also provide the opportunity to discuss the experiences of other countries in reforming their pension sectors which shall in turn serve as the base to develop/design the future course of action for the public and private sector pensions in Pakistan.
