Location:   H1-200
Begins:   Nov 09, 2006 12:30
Ends:   Nov 09, 2006 14:00

This seminar presented the main findings of a new Bank programmatic AAA on social protection in Pakistan, which is based on a special-purpose safety net survey. The presentation addresses the technical questions raised in the report:

  1. What are the major risks and vulnerabilities, and how do households cope with them?
  2. How well do Pakistan’s social protection instruments address these risks?
  3. What should be the priorities for tackling social protection reform?

The presentation also addressed the question of how to engage counterparts in programmatic sector work, describing the synergies that can be reached between analytical work, budget support lending, and outreach through workshops and seminars.

Speakers

  • Julian Schweitzer, Sector Director, SASHD
