Pakistan: Second Poverty Reduction Support Credit (PRSC II)

WASHINGTON, May 22, 2007 - The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

 

IDA CREDIT: US$350 million

TERMS: Grace Period = 10 years; Maturity = 35 years.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The credit, which supports the government’s Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper, will finance reforms designed to maintain macroeconomic stability, improve management and effectiveness of public expenditures, and assist power sector reforms. It will also support the privatization program, improve the regulatory framework for competition, and enhance female labor force participation and labor market flexibility.
