Pakistan – Punjab Barrages Improvement Phase – II Project [Additional Financing]

WASHINGTON, July 1, 2010 - The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors today approved the following project:

IBRD Loan: US$145.6 million

Terms: Maturity = 21 years; Grace = 6 years

Project ID: P096745

 

Project Description: The project’s objective is to assist in revitalizing and modernizing the Jinnah Barrage. This will be accomplished by implementing mechanisms that enable reliable and uninterrupted supply of water for irrigation and domestic water users. The project will also build the Punjab Irrigation and Power Department's competency in improving water resources and irrigation system management.
