• Among the challenges facing Pakistan, depleting water resources, an infrastructure deficit, delivery of social services like education and health, human resource development, and trade competitiveness are the most important. The Bank stands ready to assist Pakistan in keeping with the country’s Poverty Reduction Strategy in support of its objective to meet the Millennium Development Goals.

The Bank has been working with Pakistan on many aspects of its wide-ranging reform program over the last few years. The support is continuing in the shape of technical assistance, investment loans and programmatic operations as Pakistan - like other South Asia nations - faces increasing global prices for petroleum products and food items.
